Yuan Zhi (Polygala Tenuifolia) is a perennial tropical plant in the Polygalaceae family that can grow up to 0.25 m in height. It is one of the 50 fundamental herbs that are used in traditional Chinese medicine. The many-branched stems are erect or inclined and about 8-18 inches tall. The flowers are purple in colour with obliquely oblong lateral petals.*
